Next stop Vegas for Melton poker champion

WEARING his best poker face, Melton’s Glen McGregor has been crowned Australia’s poker king.

Competing in the fifth annual Joe Hachem and Shane Warne Charity Poker Tournament on January 15, the 36-year-old pitted his wits against some of the best in the business. The tournament raises money for sick and underprivileged children in Australia through Shane Warne Foundation.

Mr McGregor said the key to poker success was patience, skill and a bit of luck, adding: “You have to be able to read people, watch their body movements and changes in the sound of their voice – and the poker face is important.”

An avid player for more than 15 years, his win netted him a $30,000 high-rollers package to attend a Las Vegas tournament in July.
